Leitz

The history of the Leitz family of Rüdesheim dates back to 1744. Johannes Leitz was born in Rüdesheim am Rhein in 1964.
His grandfather Josef Leitz rebuilt the winery after it was completely destroyed in World War II. Then the winery was briefly run by Johannes Vater, who died when Johannes was 14 months old.
Johannes Leitz’s mother took over the business as a sideline until Johannes Leitz took over the 2.9-acre farm in 1985, after training as a master winegrower.
